After a 13 hours bus journey I arrived in Nagpur!, on a non AC bus, I was expecting it to be really hot, and sweaty.... how wrong I was! Damn I almost froze in my shorts and shirt!.... lucky I had my big backpack close by, and managed to get out my only light "macpac" Jersey... still didn't really help too much! Some of the roads were a little on the crazy side, but 90% were smooth... one part we went across a bridge, the guard rails had gone and there were monster pot holes in it.... the bus was scraping it's bottom in parts....
Arrived in Nagpur at around 4:30am.... after getting I guess 1-2 hours sleep (maybe).... made my way to the pickup point to meet Vithal who took me to my hotel, to have a quick wash/sleep... before another action packed day....
Start off the day, we went to the place where Gandhi spend about 10 years of his life, I only knew a few things about his early years from whaling documentary's on WW1, we actually got to look around the actual buildings Gandhi lived in... it was very interesting, still cannot believe... he had inner peace with the mosquito, I tried my best not to kill any while I was there.... (it was hard)... next was a nice vegetarian lunch across the road, then back to Nagpur to visit some other sites, by this time.... I was close to falling asleep in the car!.... we visited a couple of Buddhist, shrines/temples, created by the man who helped write the Indian constitution, back in the 50's.... he converted from Hinduism to Buddhism...
Finally, we went to a newly constructed Hindu temple... very different to the ones down south, amazing carvings... I had to wear a dress again... and walk though I'm guessing 50 metres of ankle deep water to the main temple... (no camera) central point, there was a statue, where you poured water from the Ganga,
Finally I have touched some of the water from the legendary Ganga!
Another thing I noticed.... were wild boar, on the side of the roads... even around the main town buildings... not phased at all.... cows are crazy still... still not used to it....
Back to the hotel! For some sleep!! Thanks again to Vithal (hope I spent it correctly) for an amazing day!!
