Day 24 Jaisalmer

Spend the day, walking around the old fort... visiting a Jain Temple, Jaisalmer was originally on the silk road, and an important trading route, but this all got stuffed up, with the partitioning between India and Pakistan, and the town pretty well died until the 80's when the then Indian prime minister visited, and tried to encourage tourism, which now accounts for 70% of it's income.... this place is mind blowing... ok... it's very touristy... and clean...  (well by indian standards)....

Most buildings have amazing carvings.. views are pretty impressive also, we visited some "intrepid shops" and I kinda spend a bit of cash! So mum dad, expect something in the mail from India! (It's for me tho)....

Anyway down to the pictures... altho I can't seem them really doing justice to this place, I believe it's 12th century... but has been maintained to keep itself functioning.. tours starting to pick up a bit... altho... the trip with Raju, kinda blows this one totally out of the water.... I've found out the numbers for the southern leg of the trip.... will only be 4 people... (unless they get some extras turning up)... Cricket is everywhere here.... kids are playing it all over... it's craziness.

To the pictures!!
