After a good nights sleep, it was time to go kitty hunting!, a driver picked me up, and visited Vithal and his family, in there lovely home, after a quick lunch/chat, we were about to head off, before being introduced to some of the neighbours, all very nice people! And a lovely lady that did the chalk (I think) artwork, gave me a rose!, let's just hope that isn't a marriage proposal!...
Anyway, off to Pench, I'm guessing it was 1 1/2 hours out of Nagpur, travelling down some long, toll roads, then down roads that are riddled with pot holes... we finally made it...passport details were given, (just to check if the tigers were interested in a bit of kiwi).... we boarded a open 4wd, after a 10 mins or so... we got to see our first peacock.... I was like hmmm, there's more wildlife in the city's in India!, 15-20 mins in... first deer, Samba followed by spotted, next herds of them, 5-10 at a time, often mixed Samba/spotted.... and every now and again... a monkey! None of the wildlife seemed to care that we were there, and just totally ignored the jeep, (probably got within 10-15 metres from the deer)
Later... our guide, spotted our first tiger print in the mud!... but no tiger!.... spotted a couple of vultures up in some trees....(amazed at how good the guide was) I had to really zoom in to identify, female Jackel, she was chewing on something.... spotted a few herds of bison, as we were leaving, along with a pack of while pigs... (couldn't get a clear shot of time).... we ended up in the "heart of the forest", which was a hydro electric dam, well down on water, which created a vast area of open grass land...
In the end, we spotted
15-20 peacock's (some were doing a little dance)
150+ spotted deer
20+ Samba deer (one. Was white)
1 Jackel
20 Indian Bison
15+ wild pigs (looked like captain cookers)
2 Tiger footprints...
The reserve is ment to contain, 29 tigers, 30 leopards, 15,000+ deer over 650 square km, the park goes over 2 states...
Special thanks the Vithal and his family, for making this such an amazing, and most memorable weekend..
