Day 37 taj

After an early start, we headed off to the Taj, probably 1km walk from the hotel room, we had already pre brought our tickets the previous day... 750 rupee's the most expensive tickets yet.... $15nzd locals get in for like 20 cents... it was 6:30am... and the Taj was pretty full... was interesting... we picked up a guide... wanted 50 rupees... he was an old timer.... very entertaining.... showed us all the spots to take photos! And where to take photos inside without getting into trouble.... at this stage I was feeling ok.... our room had AC.... not like the rest of the tour group.....

Visited a restaurant that rotated around... was 200 rupees all you can eat..... ($4nzd) kinda started feeling a little sick at that stage.... with the movement... got back to the hotel (nice walk).... and it started.... both ends.... eeeew yes too much information.... haven't popped a pill yet.... we are waiting till 7:00pm for the over night sleeper train... yep!! Don't want to be sick on one of those baby's....

Anyway here are some of the pic's.... sorry I wasn't well enough to visit the baby Taj just down the road....

Day 35 on the way to the Raj

Currently it's about 5:30 am here... good time to finally get the blog kinda up-to-date, wet left our nice comfortable hotel.... for a horror in Agra, (so our guide was saying...) we went via an abandoned fort... it took about 14 years to build.... and was used for only 4 years.... why??? Lack of water.... there wasn't enough water here to support the city... plus bit, was it is pretty well. Preserved.

After getting mobbed by lots of kids selling there wears... I did get close to buying something,,,, but he reduced the price from $160 to $50... but that really piss's me off when people do that.... so... no sale...

Next we headed off to our hotel in Agra... another 1 1/2 hours journey via bus..... checked into our rooms... normal drama of collecting all the passports.... and having visas checked....  and signing in.... it is pretty strict here.... due to the terror level....

Hotel room.... was a bit of a sweatbox..... we did have A/C but it wasn't going.... quick chat,,, it got hooked up..... checked a few of the other rooms....  no AC eeew.... the Taj was just down the road.... from the hotel...

Next was Argra Fort/palace this was pretty cool, similar to the previous one..... except 1/2 of it is still occupied by the Indian army today!! Lots of clever things  are in the palace... hollow waters that had running cold water,,, to keep the rooms cool in summer (there was a winter/summer rooms) you could see the Taj from the fort....  see the pic's

Next was to a garden, just across the river from the Taj... cost 100 rupee;s to get in....  Damn foreigner rates.... one of my pet hates about this place...
Views of the Taj are pretty impressive... we will be hitting it the next day.... at 6:30am....

Enjoy the pics
